Wanted to thank everyone for all the information I have been able to get from this site. I started to put together a long recoil collection with the goal of a long recoil slow mo video. I picked up a beautiful 81 in .35Rem at my local gun show. Not knowing too much about it I had a trusted gunsmith take a look. On the test fire the springs were a bit too weak and the extractor broke. We have replaced the extractor, found new springs and just waiting for my new barrel tool to arrive to get it all back together. I'm hoping to get it out to the range by the end of the year.

Neat looking early variation Model 81. Glad the old gun is back in action. What springs did you replace, action or recoil?
