2015 Montana buck

Post by 54bullseye »

Here is a pretty nice Mule Deer I got in Forsyth Montana back in 2015. The shot was 385 yds and got it with a 1965 vintage mod 700 in 7mm mag. What a ball we had that year !!! Enjoy !!

Here is the following year 2016 Mulley taken in White Sulpher Springs Montana with the same rifle at 75 yards !! More my kind of shot ! John Taylor
PS: I like the more gamey taste of Mule Deer as well if not better than the Whitetails meat !

Awesome!

I'd love to get out west and be able to get a MULE deer "buck" someday. Haven't done my homework on which state is best in general for O.T.C tags.

I assume they're not southern enough to be eating sage? Is it that Mule deer are more game(y) than whitetail deer?

To me not gamey in a bad way they just have more of a wild taste. There is sage out there you can see it in background of second buck. The Kansas whitetails are very mild meat as they eat all the good stuff corn, wheat, milo and alfalfa. I guess I just like the wild taste. Also beautiful country to hunt. John Taylor
