Shooting an FBI Model 81
I've been kicking around something and really haven't found an answer. I have recently aquired a FBI Model 81 and im wondering if it's safe to shoot standard .30 Remington through it? I know they have .25 Remington springs in them and the FBI loaded it to .351 spec, but will it have problems of damaging the gun? Thanks.
Re: Shooting an FBI Model 81
Yes, I see no issue as long as the rifle is in sound condition. Do your due diligence giving the rifle a thorough once over.
I don’t believe there’s any FBI issued rifles that had the 25 Remington buffer spring other than the rifles spoken of in preliminary tests. The difference between those 2 spring is unmistakable. Reread the FBI write up on the home page.
I have personally disassembled 2 fbi barreled assemblies and they had the 30 Remington buffer spring.
I’m not a subject matter expert, I believe all I said to be true. Resident experts correct me if I’m wrong.
