U.S. marked model 8 in .32

Post by 9.3shooter »

Saw it on GB the other day, nice rifle, pg stock, though a replacement I suspect. Nice overall condition, no extra holes.
But it was stamped on the left side of the receiver near the forward end with US and the flaming bomb ordnance mark. I thought this odd, and cogitated about it long enough for someone else to snag it! Good price too.

But the US markings really baffle me. I can find no other reference to such in a model 8.

Any ideas on this odd one?

it would be nice if a link to the auction was posted, I couldn't find it.

I've seen another just like it, discussed it with US military arms expert Bruce N Canfield and he told me it was a fake...my money is this one is the same.

That was my thought as well as I could find no reference to such a rifle. It was a nice rifle and the price was good so someone did get a good deal I think. The U in US looked sort of goofy and not like one usually sees.
