Re: C grade at auction
Two things Have been noticed by me concerning this rifle. First I believe it is quite possible that a differant extractor was improperly fitted and or adjusted in this rifle. In the center of the extractor there are two small wings and a flat that some times has to be filed down (fitted) to move smo...

Re: My first model 81.. is it a Krieger conversion?
I would have to say yes it is for three reasons. First there is the typical extra screw on the left side of receiver that keeps the barrel lock from falling out with mag removed. Second there is also a screw added under the safety lever to keep it from over traveling when taking safety off. Non Krie...

Re: FN1900 Bolt stuck back.
You need to push the bolt lock in on the other side of the bolt carrier before the bolt will rotate. There is a small ramp on the inside of receiver that does this when carrier is in receiver. When the barrel is released and moves back toward battery it pulls the bolt forward and rotating it to unlo...

Like this, push spring in and tip follower slightly so it will go into mag then let follower tip flat and it will stay in place holding spring in.

To add to my other collection, I am looking to purchase a Savage model 1899 in 250-3000 w/24" barrel.
Very good bore, no cracks in stock or for arm, no recoil pad and not drilled for scope mount. May be take down or non-take down model.

Was not able to locate 5-48 screws anywhere including Lyman. However, I was able to purchase an assortment of 5-44 cap screws. They screwed right in the existing 3 holes. Had to use a drill with a file to reduce diameter of screw head to fit into the counter bore of sight holes.

Numrick gun parts gives the dimensions of the buffer springs for each caliber. I have a 25-35 that had a split washer spacer under spring. Spring was short per spec and washer brought the length into spec.

I had one that did that quite a longtime ago. The solution was to run a large brass bore brush with cleaner in the chamber with a cordless drill on low speed for a few seconds. This cleaned and polished any residue from chamber. No more problem.

There appears to be a pre model 8 on Gun Broker listed as a M81 300 Sav. A curious thing is that there are no side springs on either side of mag and no holes in mag on either side to locate the springs. We're there early M8s produced without the side spring. Possibly the little nub on the inside of the washer is not fitting tight enough in grove. If you had access to a tig or mig welder you could very easily put a little weld on it then file to fit.
