Hey guys, the serial number appears to be in the 3000 range. Or at least that first number looks like a 3 to me. Also the buttplate screws are screwy.
Thanks for your time
Roger
Someone did - you posted the picture!
Unfortunately, you are a bit late to obtain one
You could be that enterprising individual and make some though - there is a market!
Or, its not hard to cobble something together that will do the job for you, search the threads on here, many different ideas
Love the idea Cam, how have you got it stored now ? Could it just be shared somehow?
Maybe a photohost service?
Whatever you end up doing I suspect it will be a lot of work, I'll let you know up front that I appreciate it!
Thats a great story!
And, a very nice 8 - I've wanted to add a scoped example to the herd for a while now but, alas, I am in Canada
Good luck with your sale sir!
The FN1900 really is like potato chips - you can never have just one! Looks like a nice one - congrats! Now, don't take this wrong fellows and not to take away form this beautiful example but, I have to say that in my experience (of owning 10 FN1900 rifles) I disagree that the plain barrel is more c...
Thanks for the PMs to prompt me to reply - I'm not visiting the site as often lately, too much to do while the weather is nice! While I can appreciate why a quality, custom made tool would be a costly proposition, I think the price is getting to the territory where I may have to bow out - with the e...
Very fortunate to have come across another FN1900 in superb condition so, of course, had to add it to the accumulation Bore is like new, can't see any evidence of powder residue on the bolt face - I doubt this one has fired a box of rounds Serial number 3049 Cheers! https://i.imgur.com/W30XGsz.jpg M...
What a great looking rifle!
And a 25 to boot
I'm always amazed when these oldies show up in such beautiful condition.
Whatever you paid was worth it to you - thats always my justification!
Thanks for joining the forum and showing your FNs and 8
Pretty cool to see folks worldwide who are fans of these rifles.
Can you tell us a bit about private firearms ownership in Italy?
Some advice from a Kanadian brother in arms; Don't be complacent about this, it will take every gun owner to speak out and get involved and stop the gungrabbers. This started years ago here and we are pretty much fooked now - don't let it happen there!! https://cdn0.thetruthaboutguns.com/wp-content/...
No need to dis anything about that rifle, I think she looks great! (I have some worse examples in my bunch for sure) That peep sight is sure neat, any name on it? Too bad the scope mount is gone, those period scope mounts are very intriguing to me and I'd grab every example I could find but I've yet...
We know about the official use of the 1900 in WW1, wonder how many were used un-officially in conflict? Sure got to reduce the number of FNs out there today This self-loading rifle was seized by British forces during the Irish Republican rising in Dublin at Easter 1916. Due to a failed attempt to sh...
Heres a couple outfits that would make them How many would sell from the Great 8 site here? If a person were to order 25 from these guys, they are only 30 bucks a piece - course you'd have to ship them to members across the country which would add to the cost. https://comgraphx.com/products/custom-g...
Some recent auction results here in kanada https://www.icollector.com/Non-Restricted-rifle-Remington-model-8-take-down-35-Rem-semi-automatic-w-bbl-length-22-1-2-Blue_i45765759 https://www.icollector.com/item.aspx?i=45914445 and this one still ongoing as of today (Aug 22) https://www.icollector.com/R...
If someone offers you a complete bolt, keep me in mind!
I only need the carrier but I will take the other little bits too - and pay well for them!
You may end up with a free, or very cheap, bolt

A grade being standard grade rifle I assume? Here in Canada (in Canadian dollars), at auction; Seeing basic Model 8s in average condition going for $800-$1500 + fees and shipping which can add another 20% Haven't seen an 81 on the market in years Police and FBI rifles here are unheard of FN 1900s - ...
What was really interesting was that the barrel would not move in the shroud when doing a function test!! It was totally gummed up, after clean up I found the exterior of the barrel quite pitted - the bore is pretty good however! Haven't shot this one so I can't speak to that. https://i.imgur.com/Zb...
I've not yet encountered, here in Kanada, an 81 in anything but 300 S or 35 R - I'd grab any in 32!
I have run across a couple of "EEK" examples when opening up the barrel jacket, all turned out OK so far.
Nice catch Hibby
Seems like a lot for an example in rather rough condition (I still think that scope mount is too cool tho!)
But, the word is out I'm afraid - no more bargains on these gems
Its been too quiet for too long in this sub-forum so I thought I'd show off my latest, and nicest so far, addition to the accumulation. This rifle is what I consider to be one step back from being "mint". Pretty happy to have snagged it... https://i.imgur.com/ryXEcMS.jpg More pictures here...
Hi Hibby The Dominion stuff is getting hard to come by here now, as a matter of fact, anything CIL is being actively collected. I feel terrible when i think about how many boxes of Dominion ammo I blasted away mindlessly! The silver rounds are the Peters ammo, the copper hollowpoints are REM-UMC htt...
The trials rifles look really sharp with that forearm.
Jack, being that you are in possession of two, can you comment on how it effects the balance of the rifle compared to original config?
Thanks
