I'm not into the ballistics and handlaoding yet but I've done some reading. Do you think the longer barrel (vs. pistol) made the difference with the 38spec? I have a Camp 9 and hope to use a friends chrono and find out what difference that long barrel makes.

I don't think the horse is dead - seems to come more alive each time around! I had heard about the threads before but had forgotten. I too think the set screws would have been a good idea.

As 45Guy said, "looks like they were stored in a bucket of water" - they belonged to a husband and wife. But they did clean up and now work just fine.
