Special police M81 on gun broker

Post by chas1949 »

I have asked the originator of the posting for answers to a couple questions I have with this M81. I asked for a answer as to why the trigger plate assembly seems to sit proud of the bottom of the receiver and to explain the purpose of the two rivets pictured fore and aft of serial number.
Have received no response
, anyone have any ideas?

No one has any ideas as to why the non factory carrier latch spring rivets are there or why the trigger plate does not appear to fit flush with receiver.
No bids on this for at least a month. There must be some reason no one wants it, no other police model I have found has the bolt lock spring rivets replaced like this one.

Sir , I know next to nothing about these conversions. But I do recognize that it’s been parkerized at some time in the past. It has no police markings that I can see. I personally, wouldn’t want to spend much money for this piece. That’s my analysis.
Thanks for your time,
Roger

Yes way too much for this undocumented/marked and obviously non original conversion. Also given the fact that seller did not answer questions on it is a firm deal breaker at the asking price.

If you look at any 8 or 81 in less than mint condition, you'll see those 2 spots on a factory gun where the 2 "rivets" in question are.

I haven't seen a lot of special police rifles to know if a rivet "of sort" was done on others. I do know that the spots they correspond with are there from the factory.

I won't bring too much theory into this; I can only assume it was done for reliability and or a problem happened at some point, and they did the modification.

It's a shame you expressed interest in it and he wasn't willing to take the time to reply, on such a high dollar item at that!
