Model 8 Firing Pin Springs

Does the Model 8 require a firing pin spring? I have three Model 8's and none have a firing pin spring. My folks had so much trouble with firing pins that they kept firing pins in the stocks.
On line, I see firing pin springs for the Model 81, but none for the Model 8.
