My first Model 8

I recently received my first Model 8. It's a 1922 gun in .35. The guy I bought it from said it was handed down from his great grandfather through each generation. I can't imagine selling a family heirloom. The forearm is interesting in that one of its owners carved his sight settings into it. It was done in a decent way. To me it doesn't detract and means that that owner took making hits seriously. The bore is pristine.

The vintage recoil pad is broken so I will replace it.

The forearm screw is a normal screw not the swivel type. Could this be correct? I'd much prefer tool-less takedown.

I've never seen a forearm done like that on a Model 8, very unique. I can appreciate a guy taking his hunting seriously :D

You're right about the forearm screw, it's a replacement but you may find an original pop up on ebay or gunbroker eventually. The owner(s) also have a great sighting setup, with the tang peep and the flip adjustable rear sight. Also like the sling swivel eyelets. Great find!
