Hello.
I would hope everything is original to this rifle, but I wouldn't know for sure. Any expert help would be appreciated.

Sir,
My opinion is that you have a nice example of an extremely early M-8. I think you are very lucky to have her. I'm jealous for sure. I only have one early "engraved caliber" M-8 out of 40 plus M-8/81s. They are truly rare birds.

To find an early one in such good shape! Wow and it looks correct to boot. If you get bored with it, I will make room in Canada . Very nice.

at a quick glance the gun looks all original to me as well, with the exception of the front sight.
But the major key items seem to match up: tear-drop safety lever, cheek'd stock, early buttplate, correct "1902" rear sight, hand engraved jacked head, etc.
It appears to be a very nice, unmolested example. Best thing you can do is NEVER refinish it, but maintain it's current condition as best as possible.
