Oh man, I got it bad!

Post by The Goose »

A month ago I stumbled across a Model 8 in .32 at a good price and I grabbed it. Now I have been bitten badly by the 8/81 bug. I just won the rifle below on Gunbroker/ Should have it in a week or so. The pictures are the sellers. I spoke to him on the phone and it was his father's who passed away recently and they are selling off the estate, including his guns. Remington 81 .35 made in 1948 with Lyman sight. Oh man, I got it bad.

I'm not an expert on model 8/81's but I've had several hundred rifles in my life. The one you obtained is beautiful and a definite keeper! Have fun shooting it!

Goose that's probably the most unique checkering pattern I've ever seen on an 8/81, looks very nicely done :) And a .35Rem on top of that, she's a beauty! These things are like Pringles, you can't have just one.

Regardless of your wife says, you are doing well, just keep taking the pills... and UPS will keep delivering the long box Rx.

Goose, You won a beautiful rifle. The man who had it customized with the checkering must of cherished it and it looks like he keep it in good shape. The person who did the checkering job was truly an artist. I agree with Cam, the checkering is very unique and certainly more detailed and elaborate than the factory done jobs. I love it when the UPS or FedEx trucks stop out front, it's like adult Christmas all year arround.

I agree....that is a nice 35 Rem, and the checkering is beautiful, and unique. Nice.
