Post by f.a.b. »

In the July 16 & 17 2011 ROCK ISLAND AUCTION They list LOT # 472 -- REMINGTON MODEL 81 CHECKERED STOCK WITH -- BELGIAN INSPECTION & PROOF OH RECEIVER & BREECHBLOCK I sent a email to Rock Island asking for photos of all the receiver markings but I did not hear back from them -- WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS OR IS IT NO BIG DEAL ?????

That's a real good question, I don't know the answer. The rifle was obviously manufactured by Remington and my guess would be was exported to Belgium at some point then imported back to the States. The "A" under "*" symbol I have seen on some F.N. 1900 rifles. The other symbol they say is for "guns of foreign make since 1924".

That would be a cool rifle to know the history on. "B" grade at that!
