Is it acceptable to post 10 or 12 pictures in an attempt gather information?

Welcome to the forum. It's perfectly fine to share photographs of your rifle to inquire information. I know I don't speak for myself, when I say "let's see your Model 8."

From my experience, when you're inactive for too long, it will not keep you signed in. You'll have to make a complete new post.
