Cased set, Early Krieger 81 with extras

Post by 54bullseye »

I just bought this from a fellow Great Model 8 member. It's an early model 81 serial # 503 barrel code is "WE"  August of 1936 with Krieger conversion. The gun is in 35 Remington caliber.  The receiver, barrel and trigger group are all marked with # 503. The stocks with non factory checkering are marked with # 5878 so not original to the gun.

It came with a lot of paperwork, 2 converted magazines marked  503-1 and 503-2 which are a cool addition to the package. It has a detachable weaver mount with a 2 1/2 power BALtur scope by Bausch & Lomb that is very clear and has fine crosshairs. The gun has rugged sling swivels mounted on it and came with a nice sling strap.

It also has a nice carry case with good rugged leather straps and a lockable latch. I think it's a very nice hunting package in a great caliber that someone did a beautiful job putting together !!

Here are a bunch of pictures that I hope you enjoy !! Thanks for looking !!   John Taylor

That is such a wonderful setup. I think this is the second cased Remington Autoloader I've ever seen. This is a magnificent example.

Hey John,

Congratulations on an excellent looking cased rifle. You don’t see a complete set like this very often especially with all the paperwork and extras that came with the rifle. You did very well with this purchase.

Kindest Regards,

Jack

Beautiful John. That’s a real classy cased setup, with all the accoutrements! I imagine it was quite the labor of love making that happen.

Thanks everyone for the compliments !! I thought it was a neat package. I know it's not all a factory correct gun but it was tastefully done. A great hunting set for sure ! Thanks !

Wow, that is certainly a great looking early 81 regardless of the Krieger conversion - and the scope setup - all as one great package!

I appreciate the inspiration. I have a 1945 Krieger converted 81 that is a pile of loose parts, awaiting resurrection. It is also drilled and tapped for a scope, but I wish it was for the type yours has. Mine is set up for the T-8, drilled lower on the receiver.

Love the gun! Enjoy.
