Extractor question

Post by ElkSlayer »

Question: When pulling back the bolt handle to the rear, should the extractor move? My son's Model 8 barely pulls the case out of the chamber. I noticed that when pulling back the bolt handle, the extractor immediately starts to move forward of the bolt. With my model 81, the extractor doesn't begin to move until the bolt is pulled 3/4 of the way back. My 81 ejects the case every time.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks. You were exactly correct...I fell for the optical illusion by not paying closer attention. Next time you get your Model 8s out, could you pull the bolt back a bit and see how much movement there is on your extractor? Kid's Model 8 moves quite a bit more than my 81. Wondering if that extra movement allows the rim to slip from the extractor? Seems like the part of the extractor that fits in the bolt's groove is thinner than that on the 81.
