No Ex`s in Texas

Post by Sarge756 »

All my Ex`s don`t live in Texas but there are a bunch of friends. Thoughts and prayers for them and families during and aftermath of Harvey.

I am in NW Houston. Still high and dry as are most of my family and friends here. We had been in a slight drought, but I have QUIT praying for rain. I do pray that others stay out of harms way.

Joe & Carl thanks for asking. Yes a Texan, but am about 260 miles inland and 870+ ft in elevation. Got some rain and off and here, a little wind as well. Prayers for those down around the coast however.

Hey Robo,

Are you still okay? The news coming out of Houston is very depressing. I think of you every time I see a broadcast. I hope you are safe.

Cam,
You rascal, sent all that rain up here to Kentucky. How you Do that?
Nuff comedy! I've donated clothing at YMCA, Cam could you sponsor a post with onsite needs of the community there? Perhaps our forum could provide supplies or other support. You might serve as a input for us.

Howdy,

Dodged the bullet. It was about 1" below my slab and even with one of my son's. I had Little Cypress Creek running through my yard forming rapids. Water was draining opposite of the way it normally drains. Another son that lives in Lafayette, La. is headed west with his truck and large flat bottom boat that can hold about 10 people. He will be bringing the boat and truck loaded with water, food, and other essentials. He will be most needed in Beaumont, TX. We are helping through our church. All is good. God will get us through this. Isaiah 43:2

Good news Rob. Can relate to that "Dodged the bullet" feeling. We were blessed last year when CAT4 Mathew took a jog to the east at the last minute saving us total disaster. Nothing like waiting hunkered down miles away and wondering if you will have anything to come back to.Sure put things in perspective. Glad that you are ok and part of the rescue detail.

Another, (Irma) on the way at this writing. Will be watching and hope it makes the turn and heads to the N.Atlantic. Don`t even think about it getting into the Gulf!!! Forecast is for it to be a bad one.

Here are a couple of pictures of our son's boat loaded with goods heading west early this morning from Lafayette, La. We are proud of him.

Hey robo,

Good to hear from you and glad that you survived the castrophe. I can't begin to imagine what that would be like. That is a kind gesture your son is doing. A lot of good people helping those in neeed. We need more of this.

Jack

Hey Rob, I'm so glad you and your family are doing well. And praises go out to him son.I too considered dragging my bass boat to Texas ,but I'm not sure my old work truck(2001) would be able to make the trip down there and back. I'm sure proud of the real Americans who have answered the calls for help.I feel now that I probably would have caused more trouble than help.lol
Thanks for your time

That's awesome ROB, I'm sure your son brightened the day of many! Really cool.

As far as a forum wide support, I'm happy to setup a thread to collect our thoughts but there's no way for me to accept money. I can offer a couple options however. These two churches (I'm not a member of them) are doing great things for the flood victims...

Clear Creek Community Church - www.clearcreekrelief.org

Crossbridge Church - http://crossbridge.cc/harvey

You can go to:
http://home.second.org/
to get a real good look ant what is going on in Houston and what our church is doing for the relief efforts. This is a very large church that has six campuses in and around Houston. Pastor is Dr. Ed Young with close to 52,000 members. We attended worship and bible study Sunday and Ed Young's big question was "What did you do when people were in need?" He also said that every cent sent to help with the relief would be ACCOUNTED for and used to help those in need. Any donations will be appreciated.

GREAT link ROB!!! This one is probably one to take a serious look at y'all!

As a very random side note, I ran into his son, Ed Young Jr once at a clothing store in Dallas. No big story, that's it.

Getting ready for Irma! Old school Transoceanic with spare D cells when the power and cell phones go caput. Hate to think what this monster will do to the Keys and S.Florida. Can only pray it spares us in N.Florida again like Mathew last year.
