My first Model 8..

Post by SC7902 »

My first Model 8. 1912 mfg ser#28***. This one has a Left handed safety lever. A few character marks, but I plan on taking it to the range and deer hunting this fall.

Looks like it's drilled & tapped for the Lyman 41AT too. Though it would likely bump the scope mount.
A very interesting concept

That's a very rare front sight.

Any idea on what brand the front sight is? It has a see thru hole below the sight bead. Since this is my first Model 8, I'm just now learning out it. What your best guess on the value of this rifle?

Well I got to take the 8 to the range this weekend....Holy cow its accurate and a thumper on steel targets. I was shooting 1 inch groups at 150yds. I did not expect this at all. Not bad for a 112 yr old rifle. This one will definitely get some time in the woods this fall.
