Model 81A .30 with Case

Post by jack1653 »

Hey Guys,

What a way to start the new year. Happy New Year To Me! Patience pays off for me and I am glad that it has been rewarded.

I finally found a Model 81A .30. I have been looking for a .30 for sometime and have passed on some nice rifles. This rifle was in a private collection for over 40 years and comes with a bonus "mutton" case and a very nice poster. Note the 81A on the leather case. I could not see a Remington mark on the case, but I have to believe that it came from the factory since the rifle, which is a Model 81A and the case both have the same model numbers and were purchased as a set. If I am incorrect in my assumption, I am sure there is someone out there to correct me. I look forward to some comments.

If you would like to see some pictures just use the link I have provided.

I saw the exact same leather case at a Ohio Gun Collector's Association show about 5 years ago with a beautiful grade 'C' or 'D' .25cal in it. It was priced @$750 and at the time I was only interested in another .300 Savage. Yeah, I know.....

Gold filled engraving, curly wood with classic detailed checkering and carving...well worn but it had its own halo.
