I have finally finished my first one. I don't think I will load it though.
A few questions.
1st, How do I keep the tail stock from eating up the primer pocket?
2nd, I am guessing I need to reverse the chuck jaws? See the indent on the neck. The case was virtually in there all winter.
3rd, the head is a little thicker than it should be, will I have to take it down? About .010" or so, but it is visible with the naked eye.
I made a decent cutoff tool, and the angled tool for the extractor groove. The angled tool could use a little work.
Thanks
Jim
Making .32 Remington Brass Part II

Are you using a live center? It rotates on bearings and will turn with the case, not damaging it like that. That's how I do it. A "dead" center is just solid, and will rub the brass and wear, even with oil.
If you don't have a live center, try using a FL die like others have suggested.

Re: Making .32 Remington Brass Part II
Live centers don't come on $400 lathes, at least I don't think they do?
It would spin, not spin, spin again, etc.
I will check around to see if one is available for my lathe.
If not, I will try the die method, although I am not sure my chuck is big enough to take a die, but I will see.
Thanks

The live centers are available for those little lathes - I have one for mine. It should be a Morse Taper #1 arbor, or MT1.
I think the die will fit in the 3-jaw, I usually size the cases first while the 30/30 rims are still on them. They fit better and run truer if you do.

Re: Making .32 Remington Brass Part II
I will do some looking.
I did re-size to .32 dimensions first.
Possibly this (for a wood lathe though?)?

http://www.grizzly.com/search?q=MT1
Way more choices here?
Thanks again.

Re: Making .32 Remington Brass Part II
The $25 live center from Grizzly ought to be the ticket - if you're going to use the lathe much you need one anyway.

Re: Making .32 Remington Brass Part II
I ordered the $25 center.
I just received an email response (I emailed them first) from Grizzly saying it won't fit.
I sure wish they had responded in less than a week. The email said the tail stock is only .39" and they don't carry one that will fit.
It should be here today so I will know for sure.
Maybe I can replace the entire tail stock?
Thanks
Jim
