Are these sights correct? (Rear sights)

Post by iolhippie »

The sights on my 1928 Model 8 are pictured below. The rear sight is a Marbles. The sight will fold, and the white diamond can adjust up and down. The front sight is a red dot ramp sight with out and markings. It looks like there is supposed to be a hood over the sight, but it is missing. Any thoughts on these being correct or not?

Thanks

P.S. Front sight pics in next message. Could only place 3 pics with this message.

looks like a nice Marbles folding rear sight. Probably an aftermarket installation.

Thanks 81police. I could not find them or the front sight in John Henwood's The Great Remington 8 book, but thought I would ask anyway.

Your rear sight is a Marble's No.95R Adjustable Leaf Sight, cataloged by Marble's from 1906 until 1959. With Remington's policy of providing their rifles with whatever sight the customer wanted, it is entirely possible that yours is original to your rifle.
