Clips

Post by Accumulator »

FYI,

I have found that an M14 clip works well in my .35 Remington Model 81.

That they do, also Springfield and Mauser clips - they are also good for .300 Savage. I have quite a few of all the foregoing, also just got 3 Remington clips for .25/.30/.32 that I did not even know I had. But frankly, I don't see a compelling reason to use them other than for keeping rounds together and not rattling around in your pocket. Unless you find yourself in a gun battle with some Mexican cartel drug gang.

I could not get Springfield clips to work in my 81. They do not work because the little projections on each side of the clip which act as stops will not let the clip get far enogh into the reciever for the clip to contact the top of the magazine. The Springfield clips have these projections on each side of the clip near each end, total of 4 per clip. The M14 clips are essentially identical except their stops (the projections) are located on the sides but in the middle ( 2 total per clip). Therefore, the M14 clips go farther into the receiver than the Springfield clips.
