Two digit Model 81 on GB

Post by Mikeshoe72 »

Did anyone see the 81 Serial number 46 on Gun Broker? It was chambered in 35 and sold for $700 a couple hours ago. Only one bid, I was surprised not more bidders. It was in average condition, definitely not mint. Seems like it still went a little cheap.

I must have missed that one. Not super surprised as even though it's a 2 digit gun maybe it's not as collectible because there are quite a few other known 81's out there with lower serial numbers. Lowest I've seen is #21. I could be totally wrong though on the collectibility thought however!

Howdy,

I tend to agree with you 81police. It is my opinion that a gun is collectible when it is one of a kind. Certainly, low serial numbers are collectible, but if it is known that there are lower serial numbers, then the lower number is the one you want in the collection. There are of course, exceptions and that is what makes collecting exciting and challenging.

And if you guys remember from the shoot in July, I brought and shot #22. I have not convinced the owner of it to sell to me. Yet. Since my only 81 is in the 53,000 sn range, number 46 would have been cool to own! I figure there was only 90 two digit guns made, so I want to own at least 80 of them before the inevitable dirt nap! Has anybody ever seen a single digit gun?

Yo Mike! I've seen a single digit Model 8, but never an 81!
