My first (and only) Model 81 was a .35, manufactured in September of 1938. I purchased it from its original owner, an elderly gentleman at a gun show in Sauk Prairie WI. It looks as if it was hardly ever used, with no visible wear. I paid 400.00 for it.
I've been feeding it a 200gr HORNADY pointed soft point over 39gr of 4064.

My first (and only so far) is also a Dec 1938 in .35 Rem. I haven't had it very long so haven't fired it yet. I'm in the process of taking it all apart to check it over, clean and lube it. Looks to be pretty mint.
My interest stems from an 81 that my dad had in .30 Rem. My brother has it now. I may not buy any more unless, of course, that really nice one shows up at a price I can't refuse. I don't think I need to explain that one any further!

Like Paul, my first and only so far is a Jan/47 in 35 Remington. I've spent a long time trying to find one locally and when I wasn't looking it popped up. I traded for it about 4 days ago and can't wait to shoot it.

My first 81 is in .35 Rem (Oct,1936). I purchased it last year for $695, with and extra mag and the Krieger modification. It has been posted here before and on the Vintage autoloader site.

Hi, new to the sight, and love it already. My first 81 was a 1949 300 savage that some one tried to mount a scope on and drilled 4 holes in the side of the reciever. Good shooter though. Only paid $275 for it in 1998. Traded that one off for what I don't remember now. In 2002, I scored a 30 and 35 for $450 total. Both rough, but shoot good. Still have the 30.

Just recieved my first 81 in the mail a few days ago!
Paid $500 for it - Sept/49 dated in 300 Savage.
It has plenty of company in the way of two 8s in 35, one in 30, and two FN 1900s in 35 :D
