Cast Boolit Range Report

Post by p38buff »

I was finally able to get to the range today to test the Marbles R6 tang sight with a few hand loads. I use a Lyman 358315 RNGC 204 grain mold. The gun seemed to like 23.5 grains of IMR 4198 and 31.0 grains of IMR 3031 the best. My shoulder preferred the 4198. 23.5 grains was enough to cycle flawlessly with mild recoil. The range is only 25 yards but with my eyes and a small target I was pleased. The pic is 15 rounds.

I, too, am an avid cast boolit shooter and I plan to load some up soon in my Model 81 .300 Savage. I've been using AA5744 mostly. Cast bullets are accurate, inexpensive, easy on the barrel and a hoot to shoot. Keep us posted on your load development and thanks for the photo.
