My first post

Post by swamprat »

I killed my first deer at age 12 with my Uncles Mdl 81 in 30 Rem. I am 72 and have never owned one until this week. I got nostalgic and wanted to hunt with one again, so I bought this Mdl 81 in 300 Savage. Loaded up some bullets and will sight it in as soon as it quits raining here in SE Texas.

Welcome swamprat! Good looking rifle, nice vintage set up. Be sure to let us know how it shoots when you eventually get out...October sure has been a rainy month for my part of Texas too.

Swamprat,

Welcome to the forum. I really like your choice for your first Model 81 and it looks like you have a nice rifle. The 300 Savage is an excellent hunting cartridge. My 81 is also a 300 and it shoots quite well. Good luck with yours.

;) Well, it didn't take me long to add to the stable. This one's a 35 Rem, I'll have to add a tang sight, looks too nice to drill & tap for a scope.
