Krieger conversion?

Post by uhjohnson »

saw this on gunbroker and it looks like a Krieger, if so why isn't there 4 scrwes and since the conversion is not a factory option why are they more expensive. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =208309668

thanks

Great observation. You are correct in that this rifle should have 4 screws in the left side of the receiver. This rifle is a Krieger conversion, however, its magazine indicator assembly has been modified at some point which is why it doesn't look as it should. I'm not really sure what's going on with that part, even unmodified assembly's fit almost flush against the receiver.

In most cases, modifications that alter the rifle from it's original condition do decrease the value. Krieger conversions though, involved skilled labor, cost quite a bit at the time, were done to look factory, and were very useful. Plus the fact that they are somewhat uncommon, they usually bring a premium. Great questions!

Seems you found your answer. We'll be waiting for more pics and know how it functions and shoots. :D
