Guns Show Finds: You Just Never Know!

Post by 81police »

I'm always amazed at what comes out of the woodwork at gun shows. Here's an oddball from a few years back. Someone spent some time customizing this 8!

Very cool custom magazine on that Mod 8.

I try to go to most shows within reasonable distance. I never leave disappointed even if I walk away empty handed, you don’t know what you’ll see!

Alleged to have belonged to Texas Ranger W. L. Barler.

Thanks for the reminder Hardrada55...here is your posting about this from 2012!

"Saw this interesting Model 8 at the Midland Horseshoe arena gun show today. This is not a Peace Officer Equipment Company detachable 15 round magazine. It looks like somebodies attempt to make a similar type of magazine system, but without the ability to detach it from the receiver. The barrel is also shortened pretty radically, as is the stock. The stock is covered in old leather stitched together to hold it snug. There is also a Lyman 41r peep sight. The gun was supposed to belong to an alleged Texas Ranger by the name of W. L. Barler (?). The dealer was not the owner and did not have a price listed as he was trying to "find out what it was and what it was worth." - Hardrada55
