My apologies in advance if this has been discussed on the forum before. We are all familiar with the Hamer/rifle stories related to the ambush. The Model 8 used by Bienville Parsh Deputy Sheriff Prentis Oakley was sold by Morphy's in 2006. The description includes the provenance, which seems pretty credible. Thoughts?

Lots of bullet holes in that car. I think there were a couple of Model 8s there that day.

That Model 8 has an interesting history no doubt.

Wow! There is somebody else out there as twisted as me! I have become an aficionado of all things B&C in my retirement. My buddy and I are trying to collect firearms that are representative of those used by B&C or by LEO against them. The Dr. Shehee rifle borrowed by Bienville Parish Deputy Sheriff Prentiss Oakley has been a "holy grail" for me for several years now. What exactly are you wanting to know beyond what was listed by the auction house? That auction listing is the main source of my knowledge to this date.
