I have a spare model 8 barrel in 30 rem. I would like to shorten to carbine length, how would I get to do that for me?

The one person who knew how to do this got put out of business by the current govemant administration. They said gunsmiths had to have a manufacturer license at 3000.00. It put a lot of gunsmiths out of business. Maybe if we get a pro gun administration this can be reversed.

Hey olskool,

Send a PM to forum member curdog. He does excellent work and has made several carbines. I have one of his 30 Rem barrel assemblies and it works great. Several members got to shoot it at my Great 8 Event this past July.

Regards,

Curdog sent me a email that he no longer will shorten barrels because of the new regulations and did not want to be contacted about it. He had me edit comments and remove all reference to his name and phone so he would not be contacted. This is a direct result of new government regulations requiring a manufactures license.

This is reprehensible :!: :!:

Along the same lines, I have a need for a reputable person for blueing??
Does it fall under the same regs?

Hey Carl,

I don't know if forum member JJ Roberts is still doing work, but you could PM him and ask. JJ is a master engraver and did engraving and the bluing for my "Project Rifle" which you saw at my home. JJ uses the slow rust method and I think his work is flawless. Tell him I said "Hello".

Kindest Regards,

Jack

Yes, I am sad to be unable to continue doing jobs like this.
The bottom line is, it was such a very small part of what I do that the fees I
would have had to pass on would have made each job prohibitively expensive.
Not to mention the paperwork.

Maybe things will change.
Elections have consequences.

Curdog cut my 300 model 81. It is a work of art. The best Gunsmithing job I have ever seen. And it works perfect. The government put him and hundreds of small gunsmiths out of business. There is a election with one very very anti-gun candidate and one pro gun. Be a single issue voter and vote for your gun rights.

The 2nd Amendment protections are not the only single issue. The survival of our our Country with any semblance of what we were raised with is at stake.
