Best modern scopes to mount on a Model 8

At some point I am going to need a scope on a Model 8 (or 81)...what is the best modern scope to mount on one of these weapons?

I may need more information than I have right now (type of mount, etc) and I have no plans to drill an unmolested rifle.

An El Paso made Weaver K4 would be great, maybe even a 2.5

For modern stuff, a straight tubed fixed power would look the best.

I wouldn't go any bigger than a 2-7x32mm Nikon Prostaff or Leupold (33mm)

I have one of those Nikons, a very nice scope for a reasonable price.
Just a comment, for these rifles the lower power optics make a lot of sense. Anybody here going to take a 300yd shot with cartridges designed for 100-150yds? A 75-100 year old rifle, ammo designed just at the infancy of smokeless powder should not be expected to have sub-minute of angle accuracy that the responsible hunter needs at those ranges.
I have 2 of the Weaver K series, and a Lyman Alaskan. They are great for their intended ranges. And they look right at home on our Ladies.

I agree with 35REM and Phyrbird...something lower powered with a smaller objective will have a more "period" look than others.

Heck with that. I want a 2.8-10X50mm in extra high rings. Glossy, of course.
