Got the 1906!

So I now have the Model 8 from 1906. Engraved caliber marking on receiver and 1500's serial number. It's a beauty! Very light-weigh compared to my Model 81.

Tang peep sight (Marbles) seems to be shimmed on one side and seems to go right with the factory rear sight. It loads and ejects fine (manually).

Stock heavily sanded in the wrist area (I knew this beforehand) but otherwise the stocks are very nice.

I bought a camera so as soon as I get a memory card I'll get some pics up.

If anyone has a Weaver T8 mount they want rid of, let me know as this one seems to have had one at some point.

Wow man thanks! That's great.

It has an extra hole in it but who cares? I guess it would have to be modified to put on a modern scope but hey, it's a start, if I win it.

In my opinion, the 1906 was the best made, and prettiest of all Model 8's. If you lay several of them out across the years (not refinished), you'll find the wood-to-metal fit of the earlier guns is substantially better than the rest and the metal parts look like they had considerably more time with hand fitting. Congrats!

Well thanks man. I am very excited about it and hope to get it into the woods next year.

If I come across any more 1906's and have the money, I'll certainly try to scoop those up. Right now I really want both the .25 and .32 Remingtons but I realize I need to become a reloader.

Wow.....a 1908 in .25 Rem? That's great. The next .25 Rem I see (and I can afford if) I'm going to get it.

My 1906 is .35 Remington. It's such a light-weight rifle I bet it kicks pretty good! I'm going to try it out whenever I get a chance and then hunt with it next season. I've always liked older weapons and these old Remingtons just fit the bill for me perfectly.

Neat calibers, semi auto, blued steel and wood, great history, great style, stripper clip loading, peep sights, side mounted scopes.....what's not to like?

Oh that's great! *I don't like tattoos anyway.

Have you shot her? How comfortable is the scope to use as it looks rather high.

*Nice RR pictures.
