The first .30 Remington ammo I've seen in the wild for many a moon.

And what in the world would I need .30 Remington for, any way? Why, *this* little beauty, who showed up in the Brown Truck of Happiness yesterday..:)

Once I got the Redfield rear sight tightened back down she groups pretty well. I need to load some more ammo and get some definitive groups at 100 to know for sure.

I'm still impressed by how little recoil the Model 8 has. Shooting with a friend, his .30-30 Marlin felt like a cannon by comparison.

It's a Physics matter, the delayed movement of the buttplate is softened by the movement of the barrel/bolt assembly. You get the same energy transfer over a longer time. Thus it feels lighter. The effect is felt with A5 shotgun when the friction piece is set up right. To get definitive difference shoot a bolt action rifle in the same weight and you will feel a DIFFerence. A lot sharper recoil. Watch the Youtube slow motion videos of the Model 8 recoil and you can see the effect.
