Model 8 finish restoration

Post by ctjohnson89 »

I recently aquired my grandfather model 8 .35 remington. It is not in the best condition with some pitting from rust. Is it a good idea to have it re-blued or will that hurt the value of the gun? Other than a little rust the gun is in good shape with all functioning original parts.

"...re-blued or will that hurt the value of the gun?" In a word yes it will hurt the value but.... Need pictures.

BTW welcome to the 8/81 craziness.

Generally, it is not a good idea to reblue anything when it comes to resale.

That said, it's your weapon. If you wish to reblue it and keep it in the family, then by all means do so.

We ALWAYS want pictures. :D
