35 remington loads

just got a model 8 in 35 remington.has any one used 38 special 150 grain jacketed bullets for reloading. i would like to do some target shooting with less recoil and cheap bullets.thanks

might have some feeding issues with the C.O.L being to short, but There are the same diameter bullet so I see no reason they would be unsafe as long as you take your time to work up the load, like to hear what others have to say as I shoot a 25 rem and havent reloaded any 35 rem

Win, I've never loaded pistol bullets in my Model 8 35 caliber. All I've ever shot is 200 gr. cast bullets. Need about 1600 fps muzzle velocity with those to function the action. Have no idea what velocity is needed to function the action with 150 gr bullets or if they feed from the magazine. Of course you could single load and use the rifle like a straight pull.

i have some load data from a old hornady book using 125 grain jacketed bullets.i loaded some dummy rounds and the rifle hand cycled fine.starting loads are pushing that little bullet close to 2000 fps.i was just wondering if any one else has tryed using 125 grain jacketed bullet in a model 8 35 remington before.

Pistol bullets work just fine for reduced recoil and plinking. Accuracy at moderate ranges is pretty good with 158 gr jacketed 38spl/357 mag.Have also loaded 38spl lead semi-wadcutter 148 gr Best accuracy I observed was with Hornady 9mm 147 gr XTP hollow points. Bullet diameter with these is .355 . With 20grs of 2400 powder pushing them they gave decent groups out to a hundred. Have no idea if they will cycle a Model 8 as I was using a 336 Marlin. I`m loading some 35 this weekend and will loadup a few of them and give them a try in one of my 8`s and let you know results.Maybe set up the Chrony too and get some idea of the speed they are moving.

Joe, I'd be real interested in your data after your shooting this weekend. You know I'm trying to get into reloading as well - beginning with the .35 Remington - and that wonderful versatility that comes along with the .35 is how it can be adapted to so many pistol bullets.

The .35 Remington is the only remaining cartridge from Remington's lineup of medium power rimless cartridges still in commercial production. Introduced in 1906, it was originally chambered for the Remington Model 8 semi-automatic rifle in 1908.[3]
