williams front sight drifter

Post by eagles »

I just got the large Remington 8 book which is GREAT. It shows a picture o a williams front sight vice drifter .I recommends this type of device when moving the front sight , saying if you use a drift pin you can easily rip the base off the barrel jacket as it is just sweated etc on there . I was told others use a drift pin to move the front sight for windage . I was as well until I read this . Has anyone used a drift pin and had the entire base come loose ?My front sight does not have the set screw so it might be on pretty good .The gun is now being restocked with nicer wood , a pancake cheek piece and front sight being swapped for a Dockendorrf I like .He is using a sight drifter vice to install that but want to know how to adjust after, should I buy a drifter vice for sighting ?
