model 8 #106

Post by Vwl »

Hello.
I would hope everything is original to this rifle, but I wouldn't know for sure. Any expert help would be appreciated.

Sir,
My opinion is that you have a nice example of an extremely early M-8. I think you are very lucky to have her. I'm jealous for sure. I only have one early "engraved caliber" M-8 out of 40 plus M-8/81s. They are truly rare birds.
Thanks for posting more pics,
Roger

I agree with Roger that's a good one. The rifle looks all original to me.

To find an early one in such good shape! Wow and it looks correct to boot. If you get bored with it, I will make room in Canada . Very nice.

at a quick glance the gun looks all original to me as well, with the exception of the front sight.

But the major key items seem to match up: tear-drop safety lever, cheek'd stock, early buttplate, correct "1902" rear sight, hand engraved jacked head, etc.

It appears to be a very nice, unmolested example. Best thing you can do is NEVER refinish it, but maintain it's current condition as best as possible. :D
