Pictures of my .35 Rem Model 81

Post by Fred »

Nothing too fancy but still a fun one. Circa 1947. Weaver 1" side mount sporting a 2-8 power no-name scope. I disassembled the barrel/jacket and cleaned it out along with the receiver and everything looks like it's in pretty nice shape for a 67 year old rifle. The bore seems to be in pretty good shape too. Someone drilled the stock and forend for sling swivels but I installed some swivels in the proper place. I picked up some dies and intend to play with it some more. I only managed a couple shots at a steel plate offhand for function and it's a keeper. I think I'll use the scope to check for accurate-grouping handloads then remove it all together.

I took the enitre back half apart and gave her a thorough cleaning. the bolt was a little sticky and I wanted it to run on ball bearings. I took a picture of the mess before reassembly.
