Brushy Mountain Prison Gun!

Post by 81police »

Leave it to Jack1653 to find the good stuff! Here's pictures of his latest acquisition, another "Special Police" 81. If you look up this prison it says it was open from 1896-2009, pretty cool.

The really interesting thing about the rifle is that it was manufactured in May, 1949! Notice how the "POLICE GUN Property of" looks a little different than the older Police guns, almost like it was hand stamped not roll stamped. Also there is no dash between "GUN" and "Property". Everything about the rifle is legit though and this just goes to show just when you think you've seen it all...you haven't. Great find Jack. This is the latest production "Special Police" gun we have ever recorded.

Jack,

What's with the two magazines? Is one shorter? Are both serialized to the rifle?

Jim, it's just the angle of the photograph. Both magazines are 15 rounders.

Here's a couple additional pictures Jack wanted me to add.

Thank you for sharing, Jack. Thanks for posting the pics, Cam!

Now, let's get some data rolling on the slings from all of Jack's 8's/81's....

Super example. I like it too since my kids live in Nashville, TN!

Indeed. But, I'm patient... I won't start watching for the UPS box for Christmas, I'll wait 'til next May.
