WTB Remington 11, Savage 720 barrel only

Post by Adam Lee »

Again, just looking for a used spare barrel for an A-5 patent shotgun in 12 ga.

Something I can shorten to 20-21" for my Savage 720.

Thanks

thanks, Joe. I have been away for a week, just got back into computer-ness once more.
I'll take a look to see if these are both gone already!

Help!

A barrel has continued to elude my capture!
Especially a nice, inexpensive, round-profiled candidate for custom shortening to a 19"-21" Police/Riot length.

Help!

Okay, that was my latest attempt to get someone's attention. Specifically, anyone with an extra barrel that they would be so nice for allowing my mission to be accomplished!

Why? I want to have a second barrel for my nice 720 Savage, a natural "convertible" if there ever was one!
Here she is - you've seen her before, perhaps:

And here's my goal - to have a barrel that lets me do this:

By the way, I am also working on inletting my stock to fit a vintage military-style sling loop as well. I like the look and feel of an old Police gun!

thanks

Well, as my "Smart Stallion Students" would say, "this sucks!"

I found a candidate barrel for a good price on eBay, but my wife and I (both public school teachers with plenty of debt to the man) are broke till the very end of the month.

Found a 745 Savage 12 ga barrel for under 50 bucks; buy it now is 60 bucks.

Since I can't pay for it, figured someone else who is looking for a replacement barrel that should fit their Remington 11 or Savage 720/745/755 might be interested. It's a steal!

I'm curious, how much interchangeability is there between Rem M11, Savage 720, Savage 745, and Browning A5 in the same gages?
If any group would know, this is the place.

Carl, I think most guys talk about interchangeability between Savage and Remington JMB auto shotguns, but not with the Browning A5 series. Only based on my interweb research. So, if you have a Remmy 11 you can use a Savage 720/745/755 barrel; the opposite is also true. Again, this is just based on interwebs.

Seems like any Browning A5, whether Belgian or Japanese, is not readily accepting of Savage/Remmy barrels, and vice versa.

Got all three and you are dead on Adam. A5s a breed unto themselves best I can figure.

I meant to "end" this thread due to the fact that I located a proper used 720 barrel for my project needs.

Thanks for all the comments and insights!

I have posted pics of my Savage 720 with the "new" shortened 19" barrel on another thread here, FYI.
