2 81A's for sale

Post by weaselguys »

Hello to all I'm new here and a friend of mine has 2 81's for sale both are 75-85% , first is a 1940-41 .30 rem with tang sight and the second is a 1945-47 ? .300 savage. I'm looking for info on what kind of price he should ask for them.

Hello, At first glance both rifles appear to be Model 81's. The 32xxx serial number Model 81 in 300 Savage is indeed a 1947. However, the 30 Rem appears to be a Model 81 at first glance, but the serial number location on the bottom front of the receiver, tells us you have a 1909 Model 8 receiver in the 13xxx serial number range and some Model 81 parts in the mix.

Very cool looking rifles that appear to have been enjoyed afield.

We would suggest checking gunbroker.com for current pricing.

Could the 30 rem have come from the factory that way or is it just a parts gun that someone put together ?

It would not have come from the Remington factory that way. It would be considered a parts gun, only because of the Model 8 receiver. We would hunt with it and really enjoy it!
