FP retainer pin removal

Post by uhjohnson »

I have removed the bolt catch and two cam pins to free the bolt and spring tension from the firing pin but i cannot get the retainer pin out to remove the FP. I have applied penetrating fluid, cleaned the crud from the top of the pin and came in from the bottom opposite side diagonally with a small drill bit and tapped, to no avail, does anyone have any secrets

Thanks

I figured it out, you have to be smarter than what your working with. I found the photos on the disassembly of the model 8 very helpful
(https://www.flickr.com/photos/buster_ch ... 0342/page2) but i was a little confused when the author was showing the FP retainer pin being removed from the top of the carrier and the next picture is the retainer pin. The next picture is out of sequence of the bolt latch pin and hole not drilled all the way through the rail. It should have been a picture of the FP retainer hole which is drilled all the way through but is offset at the bottom to provide a stop for the pin as well as an access hole to push the retainer out with a punch slightly smaller than the hole. It is located 180 degrees at a 45 degree angle from the top of the retainer pin.
