Model 8, feed lip (magazine side spring) woes - help

Post by Bulldog »

Hi All,

I've got a model 8 in 32 Rem that has a bit of an issue.
First, can anyone confirm if the model 8 has 1 or 2 feed lips (magazine side spring)? My 81 has 2 but the 8 has one.
Secondly, the one that is there is loose and appears to have a hole at the bottom for a pin/screw (although not threaded) that isn't there.

The gun obviously won't feed reliably with a loss magazine side spring (right side), any help is appreciated.

thanks in advance!

Hey Craig, all Model 81's were made with double side spring magazines.

Model 8's were initially made with no side springs, then later 1 side spring, then even later 2 side springs!

thanks for the feedback! So, I have a 1 feed lip version.
I've found a picture of the "pin" that is missing. I'd like to replace it without damaging the assembly by installing a screw.
Any suggestions?

thanks
Craig

the "pin" is really part of the side spring. My suggestion is to buy a replacement side spring, just make sure you get the correct side!

BD,
I'm pretty sure this is the item you are speaking of.

Just verify if the one missing is right or left; you need the right part for the right side.
Sometimes gunbroker has these or numrich arms.
