Recoil springs?

Do you all recommend replacing the main springs? Since most of these rifles are like 70 years old...how long do these springs normally last? Do they make replacement springs? Wolf springs?

I've never replaced one. We've got a 109 year old Model 8 that still runs like a top, all original parts.

If you come across a place that makes replacement springs please let us know!!!

I've only had problems with 2 springs: one magazine spring (early M8 riveted), and the one attached to the button that releases the bolt after loading. The mag spring had broke in the bend; and the mag indicator leaf gets loose in the slot then can ride on top of the rail under the bolt. The mag ind spring can be gripped better with some Loctite sleeve locker and a little judicious punch work to tighten the slot in the arm. It is awful easy to let the leaf not fit in it's groove after cleaning. Keep an eye on it.

Ok, good to know. I know that its pretty standard to swap out buffer springs on other firearms, like older 1911s, BHPs, etc. I should have assumed that no one is making buffer springs for the Model 8/81s any longer.

If we can get enough people for a group buy, there are places which will make a run. I do not know how many Wolff Springs need to make a set, but there is a guy on falfiles who made the paratrooper recoil spring set for that rifle. All is needed is a good, not worn-out spring.
