New Member with a Model 8

Post by MichiganModel8 »

Hello everyone, so excited to finally get my hands on a model 8. Mine is a 1910 production gun with a repair code from April of 1949. Pretty interesting to me. It also got me thinking, what were some common reasons these rifles were sent back? Just your typical parts wear over the years and general maintenance, or were there some parts known to wear faster than others and fail? Not concerned about the gun at all, just curious. If anyone has info on the subject or could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

MichiganModel8 welcome!

I'd suspect the repairs covered a wide range of mechanical issues. With no specifics given w/ a repair code it's hard to know, unless there's obvious evidence of parts replacement. I've seen barrels changed, barrel jackets, etc.

Good looking springpole you got there!
