Hello from Norway!

Post by EinarR »

Hi everyone. Some weeks ago I came across a rifle that was unfamiliar to me. I am well above average when it comes to gun enthusiasm and an avid shooter as well. Due to very strict gun laws here in Norway one has to get creative in ways to apply for guns. Anyway. As I said I came across something that a guy had found in an old saft that he inherited. Amongst the guns were a Remington model 16 and an FN 1900. Since nobody over here knows what this is I got it cheap. It is very exciting to learn about it, and I hope to learn some more on this forum. :D

Sounds like a great find.Welcome to our group .If you happen to make our Greet &Meet in Illinois next year you will win the prize I`m sure for the one that traveled the furthest. If those strict gun laws allow we would love to see photos of your find.

Hey EinarR,

Welcome to the forum. You are very fortunate to find the FN 1900. Considering there were just 4000+ of these rifles made they are indeed a rare treasure in firearm collecting. You have a very fine shooting weapon which performs flawlessly. It is easily maintained and easy to take down. You can threads on this forum to assist you. If you have any questions about your rifle, please let us know and we will do our best to assist you.

As Sarge756 said, we would love to see some pictures of your rifle. There is some additional information about the FN in the main index.

Regards,

I would imagine that .22 Remington Automatic ammunition is even more scarce in Norway than it is in the USA. Love to see pictures of your finds.

While not pristine, this one has character. Are there any tales of how it made it thru the forties?

Einar,

I like the close-ups of the proof marks/assembly markings on your rifle. It is a very serendipitous find - Norway or anywhere!

As the other guys have said, you will find everything you want answered right here on this forum about your FN 1900 "aka" John Browning's "sneaks" rifles.
I don't know where that "sneaks" reference came from - except my Finn 91 Mosin Nagant past life!
Blame it on just being happy to hear that a classic early autoloader has been saved from the dreaded smelter......

Enjoy your guns, this one looks like a great one to start with and resurrect.

Thanks again for the nice comments :)

Sadly I know nothing of its past. The original owner has passed away and his grandchildren discovered them by surprice. Safe to say it has had its share of hardship and handling.
Sadly it has no value over here so I am contemplating exporting it for auction. I feel I cannot give it the care it needs. Problem is, upon importation it will recieve a lot of engraving from the importing company. I dont want to do that to it either

Einar,
You might check these folks; got no affiliation with them. And will comment in near future if they are trustworthy. Don't know yet.
