It's been 6 hours since my last purchase, a 1935 Model 8D. You see it went like this...I have a Stevens 425 in .25 Remington. Then I'm in a shop and they have a 1914 Model 8A in .25 Rem. on the shelf, maybe 60%, with a replaced forend AND 75 rounds of ammo, so I've got to get it - right? Then I get it home and the ammo is a 1914 full box of Remington-UMC soft points and a full box of 1915 Rem-UMC full jacket with a couple of boxes of mixed vintage ammo - only 4 or 6 "newer" rounds and I'm thinking the ammo was worth half of the total the price I paid. Can't shoot it.

So I'm in another shop and darn them, they have this fairly nice condition 8D in .32 and I have a credit at the store... Well might as well have another gun that I can't shoot without making another buy - right? This one is maybe 70% but the wood is worse, checking about worn down and another replaced forend. This one is missing the operating handle. Maybe there's one floating around in here? Couldn't pass up the engraving - on part of the magazine sides and a snazzy triangular spiral behind the trigger. Glad you found us and welcome aboard. That is quite a story about your purchases. It sounds to me like you may have the onset of "jackitis". If you need any advice on the symptoms, I can provide some. I will warn you that there is no cure for it.

We love to see pictures of the old rifles and will wait until you can get the camera.

Welcome aboard. I can't believe that you just walked into some gunshops and found a 25 Cal. M-8@ a M-8D 32 Cal. for sale!! I don't know where you are from,but here in Iowa, you never see any M-8/81 s anywhere. I'm the only guy here in central Iowa,who even cares or knows anything about them. We used to see them every couple years or so, but now hardly ever. I'm definitely envious of your good luck! Congrats,and have some fun with them. I reload for both your calibers,so feel free to email me, about them. Once again welcome to this forum. There are many knowledgeable members here to offer you help if you need it.

The ND3 is likely a factory repair code. Compare the ser# to the production years you may have a rifle earlier than '35.

Another beautiful Tatooed Lady, mature but elegant. Could we see a photo of the grip cap?

Something you infrequently see on a "D" grade is an engraved magazine, so this makes your rifle special with a little "extra" engraving

Thank you Phirbird for the repair code heads up. It hadn't occurred to me that the rifle might pre-date the date codes. You were right and my A seems to be of 1910 manufacture and the D is 1916. All the better for me! I like them older than I am - the more the better.

My GrD Lady is a 32 Rem as well, wish I could trade some other pieces for a Grade ? in 35 Rem.

Boy, is that a nice rifle! It has a sight that is yet another in what will become a long line of things I haven't seen before.

I noted the sling attachment point discussion and had already prepared an inquiry about my 1910 #1 swivel attachment points. They certainly appear to be contemporary to me, if not original. The rear one is at 4" from the stock toe. By the way, I have about 270 rounds of .25 Rem reloads coming this week (attached to a Model 14). That should be more than enough to exercise the 8.

This flare-up of jackitis has drained my play money and kept me working for hours on minor repairs. Just the ticket! The number 1's sight is now repaired, the post unbent and the detent adjusted so it stands up straight.

Now I'm really worried about the CGCA show coming up in may. Maybe they need another greeter at Wally World so I can replenish the funds...
