from the Buckeye State

Post by Hairtrigger »

New guy here from NW Ohio
I have owned a Model 81 in 300 sav for several years but what brought me here is my latest acquisition, a Model 8 with the barrel marked 25-35 rem
Unfortunate that I can't shoot it as Buffalo has ammo backordered and I have yet to find dies and brass!
as usual the hunt is as much fun as the kill!!

I think it's possible to easily form .25 Rem brass from .30 Rem cases, even though I have not done it. Not that those are that available either, but much more available than .25 Rem cases. I imagine .25-35 Winchester dies would work, in much the same way that .30-30 Winchester dies work OK for loading .30 Remington. You do have to back off the FL sizing die slightly, as the shoulder angle is a little different. Case wall neck thickness may (or may not) have to be thinned a little if the .25 Rem cases are formed from .30 Rem. That's an easy job if you have the proper tool.
