Greeting from Maine

Post by JiminMaine »

Hi everybody. I've been hunting with a Model 8 for many years now and thought it might be interesting to swap ideas with fellow 8 & 81 users. My Dad bought a used 81, 35 Rem, in 1954. He used it for a lot of years then passed it on to me. I've been using a 1914 Model 8 for the last 20+ years and have taken 19 deer, 2 bears and a moose with it. This year, in honor of it's age, I'm used my 1911 Model 8 in 30-30 Rem. I don't have any real collectors, just 5 shooters.

Jim,

It's great to have ya here! We'd love to hear some of the stories you've had hunting with the Remington autoloaders. Bear stories?

Hey Jim,

Welcome to the forum. We are glad to have you join us and look forward to some stories and pictures. I hear the state of Maine has a lot of the Remington's. I wish I had the time to drive through the state looking for some of these old "springpoles".

Regards,

Hi Jim, and welcome.... I also have a 1911 Model 8,30 Rem, that my Grandfather hunted with for most of his life, and my father for many years. I also hunted deer with that rifle this year, in honor of my grandfather and father, and its' centennial birthday.

Welcome to the forum....there are a lot of nice guys here, with a wealth of knowledge.
