Dating a Model 11 Shotgun

Post by Trepang »

I am very interested in a Remington Model 11 Shotgun.

It has a two digit date code stamped -"MM" - which I believe translates to 1943.

If that is the case, it is missing the month - is that normal?

The serial number is 495331, which also falls into 1943 if my research is accurate.

Any help or explanation why the month is missing from the date code would be appreciated.

Sir, I’m sure not a wartime production expert. But I’d suspect it’s because of wartime production over site.

It was a 12 gage.

Turned out the barrel did not match the receiver so I did not buy it.

I appreciate the feedback and help.
